Three competitors represented Ireland at the 2016 ISSF Munich World Cup in May. Seán Baldwin (DFST) and Conor McDermottroe (DURC) took part in the 50m prone rifle competition and John Lancaster (UCDRC) competed in the 10m air rifle competition. The team were assisted by team manager Liam Crawford and coach Ray Kane.
Conor competed in the first elimination round and finished on a score of 618.3, less than a point away from the cut off to proceed to the qualification stage of the competition. Seán took to the line in the second elimination round and managed a score of 610.3 which sadly was not enough to continue to the next stage. The gold medal in 50m prone eventually went to on-form Danish shooter Torben Grimmel.
In the men's 10m air rifle competition John Lancaster recorded a score of 590.6. The event was later won by Xuechao Qian of China.
