The NTSA regret to announce that it has withdrawn from the SSAI. This decision was not reached lightly, but after careful consideration of the resources expended against very limited returns. It was felt that these resources would be better directed towards the NTSA's own core activities. The committee of the NTSA wish to thank all the SSAI committee members with whom they have worked closely over the years and of course will continue to work with within the framework of the FCP.

Russia's Lioubov Galkina took the Gold medal in the 50m 3P event to add to her Silver from the Women's Air Rifle event, and setting a new Olympic Record for a finals score at the same time.
"I knew I should not be in a hurry during the final. That is the experience I won from my last final of Air Rifle" she said after the match.
Silver medallist Valentina Turisini however, was a total surprise to most, taking the Silver medal in the Olympics as her first international medal win.
Bronze went to Chinese shooter WANG Chengyi who missed the silver by only 0.4 points in total.
