FCP Notice re: Firearms Act roll out
Following advice from the Attorney General that Statutory Instruments giving effect to the firearms act amendments must apply to full sections of the Act and not to part sections, it is now the case that some of the planned roll out of the new firearms code will be delayed at least until the enactment of the Firearms Miscellaneous Bill which is due for publication on July 3rd under the Programme for Government. As a result, the intended classification of restricted firearms will not now be applied on May 1st 2008 as planned.

NTSA Goals and Plans for 2006-7 PDF Print E-mail

As was agreed in the 2005 AGM, the NTSA annually publishes it's goals and plans for the coming year. Here are those for the 2006/7 committee: Liam Crawford, Chairman
  • Communications; those outside the committee must be kept up to date with what goes on in the committee
  • The Calendar must be realistic and take into account both competitive and recreational shooters' needs.
  • Participation levels must be raised.
Anthony Corballis, Treasurer
  • Improve the association's funding
  • Make the membership procedure more user friendly
Mark Dennehy, Secretary
  • Facilitiate the committee
  • Carry out secretarial duties according to best practises
  • Update and upgrade website
  • Respond to all inquiries of the Association as promptly as possible
  • Get NTSA committee meetings to under one hour!
PRO
  • Run a monthly one-A4-sheet newsletter
  • Maintain a regular presence in the print media
  • Get published at least once in the Irish Times
  • Facilitate the formation of a network of PROs in clubs around the country
Geoff Cooney, Airgun Coordinator
  • Raise participation levels
  • Run RO courses
  • Create a pool of people trained to run matches
  • Review stats office procedures
  • Equipment control at matches
Kealan Symes, Smallbore Rifle Coordinator
  • Introduce Class 'X'
  • Update classification lists on a regular basis
  • Run classifications off of the 25yd scores
Brendan Byrne, Smallbore Pistol Coordinator
  • Run at least one ISSF smallbore pistol match
Ray Kane, Fullbore Rifle Coordinator
  • Meet with the NCTC
Brendan Doherty, Collegiate Officer
  • See Intervarsities run smoother
Marina Cunningham, Childrens Officer
  • Provide an avenue for feedback from junior shooters
  • Inform all junior shooters of who they can talk to if something goes wrong
